About Cyprus

Cyprus is a fascinating country steeped in history, mythological legends and outstanding beauty. Dating back over nine thousand years, Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and it is a colourful mix of cultures and traditions. Over the years, civilizations from all around, have invaded Cyprus and tried to claim it for themselves, leaving their own individual mark on the island. The castles of the Crusaders, the Byzantine Churches and Monasteries, the Venetian Walls in the divided city of Nicosia and the mythical Aphrodite's Rock are just some of the amazing sights that the island boasts. The varied scenery ranges from the natural landscape of the Akamas region, the majestic mountains of Troodos with its panoramic views, to the sun soaked beaches and rugged coastline.

The romance of the island is legendary. The Greek Gods chose Cyprus as a place to have fun and the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite was born from the shores of 'Petra tou Romiou' along the west coast of the island. Aphrodite herself met and fell in love with Adonis, here on the island and the lovers used Cyprus as their secret meeting place.
